Dirty 30 Trail Race Tech Team

The Dirty 30 Annual trail race is a 50km trail race in Golden Gate Canyon State Park.  This year it will be held on June 1, 2019.  It’s a very popular trail race in an area that has no road access and communications are spotty at best.  In order to provide adequate runner tracking for nearly 750 runners, we build and deploy several microwave links in the area, as well as satellite links and wifi.

This undertaking has become a great learning experience for all involved and challenges us to do things that we’re not normally doing as amateur radio operators.  We need people to assist in configuring, building and testing the system in the weeks before the event as well as people to assist in deploying and testing on-site for the actual event.

This requires folks with technical ability as well as people with the ability to follow drawings and direction to complete their tasks.  Having people willing to hike into mountain top locations carrying backpacks is good also, but not required!

The date of the race is June 1, and not what is listed on this map.

This is not a small event and your help would be appreciated!  The benefactor for proceeds from the race is Gilpin County Athletics.
