20140719_080149Friday July 17th saw a merry band of RM Ham members making the long trek to the base of Almagre Mountain and the next day make the one hour trip up the service road to the site. The site is close to 13,000 feet and it was certainly a labor of love for those hardy souls to work at that altitude! Physical installation of the new 3 GHz microwave equipment was made as well as some general maintenance and cleanup at the site. The crew included (in no particular order) K7PFJ, K2AD, KØGUR, WØVG, KØPWO, KØRM, WA2YZT, WØKVA, and KØJSC.
Sunday July 27th saw WØVG heading for Devil’s Head and KØJSC and ACØKQ heading back to Almagre Mountain for the final tweaks to the 3 GHz links and final tweaks on the UHF TRBO and the new Mixed Mode VHF. The 3 GHz all amateur band backbone now stretches from Pueblo to Fort Collins. The final 35 mile link was running a -47dBm. Next stop Raton Pass!
