Field Day 2026 was Windy and Wonderful!

Field Day GOTA StationIt was a sunny day when Field Day started on Friday with the theme of “Amateur Radio: A National Resource”. Antennas were assembled, tested, and deployed to various places. Connections between the Comm Trailer and Quick Response Vehicles (QRV) were established, with radios being set up and tested. Saturday was a nice sunny morning, with the high winds forecasted to begin in the afternoon. By 11 am on Saturday, things were ready to go as the safety briefing started, followed by a group picture, and logging training. This year we were a 5 Alpha station, and band conditions were not the best at the start but improved. The potluck dinner on Saturday evening required a shifting of cooking to trailers because of the high wind. However, the wind lessened about the time dinner started. Everyone got to enjoy lots of great dishes. One of the deserts was a wonderful cake with this year’s Field Day logo.  With the completion of Field Day on Sunday, we completed over 2000 CW contacts, 1300 phone contacts, and 500 digital contacts with over 40 people participating in Field Day. Disassembly of antennas and equipment started as people left for home with others leaving on Monday to return home. We will be looking forward to next year’s Field Day and hopefully a bit less wind.

RMHAM would like to express our appreciation and thanks to Scott W0KVA and Stacey, for facilitating our use of their family property, John W0VG for organizing and feeding people, and other RMHAM members for supporting and helping make it a wonderful Field Day.
