Fort Collins Sites Down Due to Cameron Peak Fire

As of Friday October 16, 2020 the Buckhorn Mountain DMR as well as the Horsetooth DMR are all offline due to power.  The fire was due to burn over Horsetooth on Friday but the wind changed and didn’t as of Sunday October 18.  Power was shut off by the utility company as a preventive measure.

The batteries kept the microwave up for quite some time, but sadly, both of the sites are down.

We hope to be able to get escorted access to Horsetooth to be able to restore the DC plant to Horsetooth in order to get the microwaves back on a basic temporary solar system, but we will likely keep the repeaters off to ensure that the microwave system keeps operating in order to keep the feed up to Buckhorn and our receive site at Rattlesnake Ridge.

The team will be adding an additional microwave shot from Rattlesnake Ridge to Buckhorn but some temporary tower construction will be required to make the path work.
